Why You're Desperately Needed NOW

I'm sure you've heard

"That's what you get when you let your heart win, woah oh woah oh oh!"

Okay, seriously. I'm sure you've heard your pastor (if you go to church) say that the church needs to get outside of it's walls. (But the "That's What You Get" thing really does fit in here) When you think of that, you probably think of community service and helping out in the nursery, talking about Jesus to Atheists and blah blah blah blah blah.

So they say we've got to reach out "more, more...", huh?

But how?

Let me tell you a fun way to reach out: Your talents.

Can you write? Can you sing? Can you play the cello? (So you can teach me, of course!) Can you act? Hollywood needs you, the country needs you, our entire world needs you.

For those who write...
Gosh, we need you so badly. Ever walked through the teens' section at Barnes and Noble? Or maybe even the library? Then you know why the world needs Christian authors. Shelves are full of Twilight, The Vampire Diaries, and trust me, I could name more. (Why not just read the Narnia series? They're way better!) You're needed so badly, it's not even funny. These books are sending the wrong messages, so if you can write, please use that talent to reach out.

For those who sing...
This is one of my favorite things to do! (Also, pray for Hayley Williams, my favorite singer. She has to have throat surgery! If you don't know who she is, she is the lead vocals of Paramore, and they are a very popular band who has toured with Relient K!) You are needed very, very much.

I don't know how you can get noticed, but I'd try making a blog with videos of you singing, or posting to YouTube. Justin Bieber got discovered that way, so why can't you? Anyway, here's a story:

Yesterday, I was on YouTube and decided I wanted to buy a few songs from iTunes. Well, the "recycle bin was full" (This ever happened to you?) so I asked my dad to delete a few items. He did, and then later, my mom asked why I left a whole bunch of quarters, dimes, and nickels on her shelf in their room. "I bought three songs from iTunes," I told her. Well, she doesn't like when I don't use an iTunes gift card because it will show up on her bill for her credit card and blah. So her response? "Is it Christian?"

I could have lied right on the spot. But what was the use? "No," I honestly told her. This is not just a normal everyday story. This is telling you that it is easier to fall in love with non-Christian music than Christian music. It's sad, but it's true. Many times I use the excuse, "Well, Justin Bieber is a Christian and supposedly so is Paramore. Paramore has toured with Christian bands and stuff." But, the music still isn't Christian. How can we get people attracted to our music?

We have the Black Eyed Peas. (ugh... did you hear them at the Superbowl?? Eww.) We need a Christian Black Eyed Peas. (Group 1 Crew!) We have Avril Lavigne. We need a Christian Avril Lavigne. (Krystal Meyers!) We have Paramore. We need a Christian Paramore. (Flyleaf!) We have solutions to those, but we need a Christian Justin Bieber, even though he is a Christian. We need a Christian Lady GaGa. Which would be really funny--- a Christian GaGa? Is that possible?

For those who act...
Yesterday, I was watching the best cancelled show ever. (Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide!) We recently switched to U-Verse from DirecTV (big mistake) and I thought I lost all my channels because the numbers changed. Well, I found TeenNick! YES!!! "Ned's Declassified" was on, (remember that show?) so I figured I'd watch that.

And then... a "Degrassi" commercial came on.

Now, if you watch Nickelodeon, (I normally don't) you know that Degrassi has changed a lot since Drake (yes, the rapper) and Nina Dobrev were on it. You know that it has gone a step too far.

So far, I cannot say it on this blog.

Let's just say....

ADULT CONTENT! ADULT CONTENT! ADULT CONTENT!

It was horrible. No teenager should ever be watching this. There was a time when I thought that show was okay, when all it was was teen moms and friendship betrayal and all. But no... the name of the episode was "In Too Deep", and yes, they've gone in toooooooo deep.

Christian actors, you're needed NOW.

Christian people, you're needed now.

"When all that is waiting for you won't come any closer, you've got to reach out more, more..."
-'Careful', Paramore

  1. Christian actors are important, but more importantly are Christian script witers, producers, and directors. There are a lot of Christian actors out there settling for "not so good" roles because they're are no good roles out there right now. Great post!

  2. Great response, Paris! You know, it was originally my intention to blog about the scriptwriters last week when I thought up this post. Thx for the comment!
